Math Games

The class has started doing math stations daily where they rotate through 4 stations: teacher, independent, games, and challenge.  They are doing a great job with the stations and are learning a lot!

Some of the games that the students have learned about so far are:
- 5 to Make 205 - which uses addition and estimating
- Closest to 1,000 - which uses 4 digition addition
- Closest to 0 - which uses 4 digit subtraction

Glad to Be Back

I am so happy to be back with the class!  We have already had a great time this past week and a half learning a lot of new things!

In science, students have been learning about plant embryos, seed coats, and we are even planting our very own Wiscosin Fast Growing plants!

We have also started our reading rotations this week!

It was so great meeting each of you at "Meet the Teacher"!  For those of you who were unable to make it, I am looking forward to meeting you on August 19th for Open House.  We will discuss all information pertaining to this school year including field trips, curriculum, and what to expect in third grade!  I look forward to seeing your children again on September 8th.

Welcome to third grade!  I am so glad that you decided to drop by our class blog!  I am excited to meet each of my new students at Meet the Teacher!

Spring Festival Rewards

Our class sold not only the most raffle tickets in third grade, but they sold the most raffle tickets in the entire school!  They were able to celebrate with participating in the We Love Homewood Day parade and by having a fun popsicle party!

Review

We have started reviewing for the Aspire test that is coming at the end of this month. One way we are reviewing in math is through a fun game called Scoot. Students "scoot" around the room answering questions, trying to be the top scorer. The class has had fun reviewing this way!

Valentines Day and Rocks

Students have had a great time learning many new things in class. Miss Allen did fun activities with Valentines Day math stations. We have also had a blast learning about rocks and minerals.
